The ST400 Series features an advanced turbine design where compressed air flows through a high-speed rotating turbine wheel. This delivers maximum starting power with lower weight and a more compact footprint compared to traditional vane air starters. Turbine technology provides rapid acceleration, smooth torque delivery, and reduced mechanical wear, completely eliminating the need for air line lubrication (Lube-Free operation).

The ST400 Series is an ideal choice for demanding applications where electric starting is impractical or unsafe, and a high power-to-weight ratio is required. It is specifically engineered for mid-range diesel and gas engines in mining, marine auxiliary power, stationary power generation, and industrial pump or compressor packages.

Configurable Starter Platform: The ST400 Series is not merely a single standard unit, but a versatile platform tailored to your engine’s exact requirements. It can be fully configured in terms of ARC level (Air Restriction Control), operating pressure, gear ratio, drive pinion, flange type (SAE 1 & SAE 3), rotation direction, and mounting orientation.

ARC (Air Restriction Control) regulates the volume of airflow utilized by the turbine motor to optimize performance based on available system pressure:

  • ST400 (44% ARC) – Designed for high-pressure systems (up to 10.3 bar). Delivers maximum peak power and breakaway torque.
  • ST455 (55% ARC) – A versatile and balanced option for medium-pressure systems (up to 8.3 bar).
  • ST499 (99% ARC) – Optimized for low-pressure systems (down to 2.1 bar) with maximum airflow to ensure reliable starts at reduced pressure.
