Turbine Air Starters (ST Series)
ST Series Turbine Air Starters are high-performance, technologically advanced starting solutions for large and heavily loaded diesel and gas engines. Turbine-based starters are built for applications where maximum starting capability, high efficiency, and reliable operation are required even in the harshest industrial and environmental conditions.

ST Series starters use a turbine motor design, where compressed air (or, in suitable solutions, gas) is routed through a high-speed rotating turbine. This enables very high power and torque with a more compact design and an improved power-to-weight ratio compared to many traditional solutions. Turbine motors are often lube-free, which reduces maintenance, simplifies operation, and increases reliability during long-term, intensive use.
The ST Series includes multiple sub-series, such as ST400, ST500, ST600, ST700/900, ST1000 and ST2000, covering a wide range of engine sizes and starting conditions — from mid-size industrial engines to very large marine engines, power generation units, and oil and gas industry engines. Many ST Series models are available with overrunning or clutch solutions to help reduce shock loads during starting and protect both the starter and the engine ring gear.
ST Series turbine air starters are especially suitable where start frequency is high, conditions are harsh, and reliability is critical. They are widely used in marine, power generation, rail, mining, oil and gas, and heavy off-highway applications.
Why choose an ST Series turbine air starter?
- Very high power and starting torque – suitable for large, high-compression engines
- Turbine technology – excellent power-to-weight ratio
- Lube-free design – lower maintenance and higher reliability
- Clutch solutions to reduce shock loads – extended starter and engine life
- Wide model range – solutions for different industries and engine sizes
