Ingersoll Rand SS350 Series Vane Air Starters (19–36 hp)
The SS350 is a pre-engaged vane-motor air starter for mid-size diesel and gas engines. Smooth pre-engagement protects the ring gear and the overhung nose delivers extra torque. All SS350 starters are gas-tight (code G) and also run on natural gas.
- Smooth pre-engagement – the pinion engages before full power.
- Two gear ratios: B – higher speed, E – higher breakaway torque.
- SAE 1 and SAE 3 flanges, a wide choice of DP and module pinions, including short-tooth (SR) versions.
- Air or natural gas, up to 10.3 bar.

Example SS350GE03R31-02H: SS350 – series, G – gas-tight, E – gear ratio, 03 – SAE 3 flange, R – right-hand rotation, 31 – pinion (12 teeth, DP 6/8), 02H – orientation.
Orientation – same starter, different position
The orientation code at the end of the model number (e.g. -02FJ, -2N or -POS) only defines the inlet, exhaust, drive housing and flange positions on the engine. The starter itself is the same. Each product page lists the same starter in other orientations – choose the one that fits your engine installation, or ask us.
